Building Inspection - Residential
This three day course is designed for those seeking certification as residential building inspector or residential combination inspector, or those seeking to advance their knowledge of building codes as they relate to residential building inspection. Participants in this training program will acquire the skills to apply the residential provisions of the Uniform Statewide Building Code during inspection. In addition, participants will also gain the knowledge of the nuances of the code and its concepts. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of residential building codes, and must have completed the Core course. Students will learn through discussions, multimedia presentations, and simulated inspections on a variety of topics including: building planning, foundations, floors, walls, wall covering, roof-ceiling construction, roof assemblies, chimneys, and energy efficiency. Learning objectives include obtain an understanding of the administrative scope of the code, identify definitions, abbreviations and acronyms relative to the code, identify the components of the inspection, demonstrate basic skill in identifying code violations, and demonstrate knowledge and ability to utilize the code books.
