This course is designed for Building, Maintenance and Fire Code Officials, assistant code officials, and people managers. Other applicants will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. The course is required for DHCD certification as a Building Official, Fire Official, or Maintenance Official. Candidates taking this course should have some basic knowledge of the legal aspects, managerial practices, and technical knowledge related to code enforcement, and must have attended the Academy's Core course. The course agenda includes the following topics:
- Advanced Administration
- Local and State Technical Review Boards, including a mock State TRB activity
- Organizational Leadership and Management
- Media Relations - How to prepare for and handle an interview with the media
- A comprehensive case study activity
Student Should Bring: Copies of the 2021 Uniform Statewide Building Code Parts I, II, and III and the 2021 Statewide Fire Prevention Code,
