Virginia Main Street Spring 2025 Regional Rev Up: Strengthening Nonprofits & Community

Join Virginia Main Street (VMS) for an immersive half-day workshop that digs deep into effective and engaging nonprofit governance practices. Led by Cindy Colson, Deputy Director of Partnerships, Consulting & Impact at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, this workshop will teach the key roles and responsibilities of board members, include interactive exercises for skills development and a path to creating high-impact organizations. Topics covered will include:

• Shared leadership of the board and executive director
• Creating meaningful work through effective meetings and agendas
• Board development as a strategic tool in engagement and recruitment 
  

Held separately in three different locations across the state, communities have the option to select which Rev Up workshop they'd like to attend. Training content will be the same at all three workshops so choose the location that's most convenient. 

Cindy Colson is responsible for the development and administration of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence's diverse array of programs and services throughout Central Virginia. She brings over 18 years of nonprofit leadership experience to her executive leadership and board governance training and consulting with nonprofits. She supports nonprofits to implement sound, ethical, and legal governance practices to fulfill the Center for Nonprofit Excellence's vision of equitable, thriving and just communities powered by healthy nonprofits. Cindy earned her BIS from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Mary Washington.
